CORAAL, a tool we've recently developed for intelligent publication search, targets the information overload.
It is currently deployed in one specific domain - cancer research literature. However, it can be easily applied to any other domain that requires cost-effective processing and expressive querying of knowledge hidden in large amounts of free text.
The information overload is quite painful in the cancer research area, it is difficult to track the isolated pieces of knowledge in thousands of publications relevant to one's expertise. In CORAAL, we automatically extracted and inferred concepts from more than 10000 publications and linked them together by various types of relations.
